“The only thing better than singing, is more singing.”
Singing can take place anywhere. In school, in Church, in the community, at home. It has the power to benefit us in many ways and Wolverhampton Music Education Hub is committed to developing opportunities for singing across the city.
Did you know that singing:
- Makes us more mentally alert
- Can boost self esteem and confidence
- Increases feelings of wellbeing
- Encourages creativity
- Can reduce stress
- Exercises lungs, tones muscles and diaphragm
- Builds a sense of community
- Can improve social skills
The hub is developing a strategy of support for schools to encourage and promote singing for children and young people across the city.
The hub and its partners work together to provide training to school staff, building confidence to allow them to sing regularly with classes and choirs in school. By accessing our CPD programme as part of our Curriculum Enrichment, teachers can work with their students and pupils on a daily basis to inspire children to enjoy singing. A number of events will be taking place throughout the year alongside our partners, St Peter’s Collegiate Choir, Paul Wilcox and David Lawrence.
